Aphasia Intervention Strategy: ( ORLA ) A Practical Approach for Improving Communication skills.

Introduction. ORLA or Oral Reading for Language in Aphasia is a reading treatment for people with aphasia. It is focus on reading full sentences rather than single words. It is an evidence – based practice. ORLA is a structured therapy technique to provide increasing levels of difficulty and allowing patients to gradually develop confidence and skills .ORLA originally develop for target to reading comprehension skills ,but it also beneficial for increasing auditory comprehension ,fluency ,prosody ,memory and other aspect of speech and language. Participation population. People (adults) with mild to moderate chronic fluent and non-fluent aphasia such as Broca’s aphasia, who have intact literacy skills to increase receptive language. ORLA may be too advanced for people who have severe comprehension or reading impairments. Pre-requisites or contraindications . Patient should have some ability to match words to spoken words.
